Research Overview
The research includes a basic science laboratory with a focus on the role of platelets in tumor angiogenesis, and on the understanding of the tumor microenvironment. Pre-clinical development includes the development of anti-angiogenic strategies, and other novel, non-toxic therapies for benign and malignant tumors. It focuses specific orphan diseases such as rare tumors, sarcomas, brain tumors and vascular anomalies with the goal to improve the existing standards in cancer care. The underlying concepts are easily applied to many other angiogenesis related disorders, such as wound healing and tissue regeneration, stem cell homing and differentiation and cardiovascular diseases.
